In conjunction with other Northeast Los Angeles history and preservation groups, EPHS is working with Occidental College to create ties between the various archives that groups and individuals have created. The group’s first effort will be to digitize the many local newspapers that once covered the area, including Echo Park’s own Parkside Journal. These papers existed for much of the 20th century. Their photos and stories are a great source for local news items rarely carried by the larger citywide papers. The EPHS has a few yellowed copies of the Parkside Journal but is seeking to expand its collection for this effort. Please contact the EPHS if you have copies to donate.
