Fight Demolition Plans

The Echo Park Historical Society is urging members and supporters to attend an April 19 hearing and speak against plans by the Los Angeles school district to demolish more than 50 homes and apartments for a new school. The hearing on Site 9A will be held on Thursday, April 19 at 6 pm in the auditorium of Rosemont Elementary School,  421 N. Rosemont at Temple St.   The school district has continued to purse plans to build a new school despite a steep decline in enrollment, which makes a new school unnecessary, and opposition from city elected leaders.   The hearing will be dedicated to comments on an environmental impact report.  More 9A details.
